Colour Tests : 2020-feb-25

We've recently upgraded our dyeing process and did a lot of colour mixing tests to see how the colours play together. I posted a little about it here and here. There was such an enthusiastic response to these fun swatches that I decided to dye extras; here they are.

Each colour test kit is the same amount of yarn as one regular skein (115 g / 4 oz), divided into two parts:

  • Rainbow (80 - 95g)
  • Undyed (25 - 35g)

The striped section has a full spectrum of colours. Some of the rainbow skeins in this batch have a section with skinny stripes (first image); others are missing one of the less saturated stripes (second image). We can't tell which is which from looking at the twisted hank, so you won't know which you received until you knit with it.

Each kit is one-of-a-kind with variations as I tweaked and tested my dye recipes. Some are brighter, some are darker, some are muddier, some are cheerier

We sell regular and XL skeins:
115 g (4 oz) is a standard skein
170 g (6 oz) is 1.5 times a standard skein
Our photos are intended to capture the overall feel of the colourway, but our dye lots do vary. More details on our base yarns are available here.
