All of our birthstones and birth flowers are available all month long, and I thought I’d take a moment to spotlight one of our most popular colourways this year: April Diamond.
The hat in these photos is a Musselburgh made with a One-Way Trip skein. Totally different on both sides, it’s like four hats in one! I used almost every inch of a 100 g skein in 4-Ply Fingering.

Creating a colourway based on diamonds was a fun challenge because diamonds are famous for their complete and total lack of colour. There are literally experts who are trained to determine just how un-colourful a diamond is.
Given that this colourway was released just before April Fools’ Day, I did consider leaving it completely undyed.
But then I thought about the real reason people like diamonds so much, which is their sparkle. When cut properly, they refract light and create a whole rainbow of glimmering, glittering colours. I leaned in to that and I’d like to think that this colourway is a little bit of luxury, a little bit of fun, and just the right amount of that ol’ razzle dazzle.
