We designed this shawl yarn as an organic flow of colour, scattered with delicate short row leaves. When I see the finished shawls, they always remind me of a painting, with leaves floating gently across ripples in the water.
This yarn was created specifically for the Goldstream Shawl pattern by Andrea Rangel (available on her website or Ravelry). The colour shifts are engineered so that when the yarn changes to a golden section, you know it’s time to work a leaf. After that, it’s back to soothing garter stitch.
And truly, it’s just so much fun to knit! It’s all one skein, with no counting or extra ends to weave in. The colours work their magic so that a simple, relaxing knit looks like a masterpiece.
Of course, Goldstream yarn isn’t limited to this pattern. If you prefer, you can use it for any shawl or scarf pattern and let the colours do their thing.
One final note, because I know many of you like to plan ahead: the pattern is written for one 150 g skein of our 4-Ply Sock yarn. You can substitute another base if you prefer. Just keep in mind that our other bases are a slightly heavier fingering weight with less yardage, so the finished shawl will be a bit smaller.
