I’m not a fan of knitting heel flaps. I don’t mind all the short rows turning the heel, it’s the actual heel flap I don’t like knitting. And it just occurred to me, as I write this to send it out on a Wednesday, that heel flaps are the Hump Day of sock knitting. Halfway through, you’ve lost some enthusiasm for doing a new thing, but the end is not yet in sight. But then, and it never fails, you power through and before you know it you've reached the weekend/toe decreases!
This lovely example of a heel flap was knit with Weekend C, the middle skein in our Weekend fade. I noticed this colourway was selling quite well on is own, and I can understand why! It has the understated feel of a neutral, even though there are a lot of oranges and blues hiding in here. Perfect for that knitworthy friend who thinks they don’t like colour?
