I'm pleased to have good-ish news: no tariffs on shipments with a value of less than $800.
The executive order was amended on Sunday to state that the $800 de minimis exemption will remain in place for now. The exemption will be removed if/when US Customs and Border Protection has a system in place to collects the tariffs.
I find it hard to get these details from the news. Obviously I care about high-level impacts of a North American trade war. But I also care about whether the form I filled out last week is still the right one this week, and what my customers need to know to receive their shipments. If you're in the same boat, I recommend the Chit Chats blog for details on how exactly tariffs are being implemented and what this means for senders and receivers.
