Happy birthday, June babies!
Inspired by June’s birth stone, Alexandrite, this colourway shifts from green to pinky-purple, just like the real thing. Alexandrite changes depending on the light, thanks to trace amounts of chromium in its crystal structure. (Science!) In daylight, it glows green; under warm indoor lighting, it shifts to a moody purple-red.
To honour that shifting beauty, I dyed this yarn as a soft, flowing gradient—the kind that invites you to just keep knitting.
Everything you need is in one skein! As you wind the yarn you can divide it into four balls:
- Two matching gradients, one for each sock
- Two mini skeins (about 5g each) of contrast colour if you choose to add colourwork at the cuff and toe.
For my sample, I used the Wildflower Meadow pattern by Andrea Rangel (sold separately). The pattern is written for a discontinued yarn but Trifecta can be substituted. For the largest size you may wish to use a 150 g skein to avoid a harrowing game of yarn chicken. I swapped in my own motif to personalize it, and I’ve shared my chart on the product page if you’d like to do the same.
