Greys fade to pink, punctuated by yellow "leaves" in this eye-catching shawl in Beacon Hill

The pattern is available though Andrea's website or Ravelry

This clever shawl design requires a single 150 g skein of yarn and needs no cutting or joining to produce this effect: simply work in garter stitch until a colour change in the yarn shows it's time to work a leaf.

Other Goldstream colourways are here.

Notes:

-The pattern is written for one 150 g skein of 4-Ply yarn. Other base yarns may be used but they have less yardage so the final shawl will be slightly smaller.

-The cast-on end of this skein is marked with a short yellow section.

-The colours are most accurate in the photo of the individual skein of yarn.

Striping Patterns

Round Trip "There and back" with two matching halves—perfect for projects like socks. One 100 g skein of fingering weight is enough for an average-size pair of women's socks. For longer or wider socks, choose the 150 g size.

One-Way Trip A long, non-repeating color sequence, great for hats, cowls, or scarves. For a Musselburgh Hat, 100 g of Trifecta or MCN is enough for a size L hat but you will need 150 g if you'd like a wide, folded brim. 4-Ply has more yardage so 100 g is enough to make a folded brim.

Shawl Yarn Specially dyed for top-down triangular shawls. Each stripe is the same width from beginning to end, with no ends to weave in. 100 g of fingering weight is enough for a small shawlette. 150 g gives a more generous size. If you want to maximize your yardage, choose our 4-Ply sock yarn.

Sweater Yarn  Designed for garments like baby sweaters. The stripes appear only on the yoke, and the rest is a coordinating solid color—no switching yarns or breaking the flow.

Base Yarns

All our yarn is spun at a Canadian mill. Our Merino wool is sourced from from farms in New Zealand and mulesing is not performed on the sheep.

Trifecta Fingering: 80% superwash Merino, 20% nylon

4-Ply Sock: 75% superwash Merino, 25% nylon
100 g = 425 m (465 yd) | 150 g = 638 m (698 yd)

2-Ply Fingering: 100% superwash Merino
100 g = 339 m (370 yd) | 150 g = 507 m (555 yd)

MCN Fingering: 70% superwash Merino, 20% cashmere, 10% nylon
100 g = 339 m (370 yd)  |   150 g = 507 m (555 yd)

Please note that these yardages were updated in October 2025. The yarn did not change, but there was a mistake in earlier listings/ballbands that showed the yardage as less than it really is.
