Greys fade to blues, punctuated by soft green "leaves" in this eye-catching shawl in Sombrio. This colourway was developed with designer Andrea Rangel to perfectly coordinate with her Goldstream Shawl pattern.

This listing is for one skein of yarn and does not include the pattern. The pattern is available as part of the Knit Outside collection (print and ebook here) or as a single pattern (directly through Andrea here).

This clever shawl design requires a single 170 g / 6 oz skein of yarn and needs no cutting or joining to produce this effect: the knitter simply works in garter stitch until a colour change in the yarn tells her it's time to work a leaf.

We are also offering the 115 g / 4 oz skein for knitters who have a different project in mind or want to try modifying the pattern on their own.

Other colourways for the Goldstream pattern are here and the full Knit Outside collection is here

Striping Patterns

Round Trip Designed with two matching halves—perfect for projects like socks, mittens, or sleeves where you want identical results. One 100 g skein of fingering weight is enough for an average-size pair of women's socks. For longer or wider socks, choose the 150 g size.

One-Way Trip A long, non-repeating color sequence. Great for hats, cowls, or scarves—ideal when you want a journey through color from start to finish. For a Musselburgh Hat, 100 g of Trifecta or MCN is enough for a size L hat but you will need 150 g if you'd like a wide, folded brim. 4-Ply has more yardage so 100 g is enough to make a folded brim.

Shawl Yarn Specially dyed for top-down triangular shawls. Each stripe is the same width from beginning to end, with no ends to weave in. 100 g of fingering weight is enough for a small shawlette. 150 g gives a more generous size.

Sweater Yarn  Designed for garments like baby sweaters. The stripes appear only on the yoke, and the rest is a coordinating solid color—no switching yarns or breaking the flow.
