Some knitting in progress.  The colourway is "whoops what happened there but actually that's quite a nice ombre effect". 

Any guesses as to what this is going to be? Socks? Fingerless mitts? The sleeve of a baby sweater?

Nope. It is going to be absolutely nothing. A little tube with no practical value. 

I have no explanation for why I cast on. I knew full well it was only about 10 g worth of yarn and (64 sts x 10 g = nothing). But it seemed like the right thing to do at the time, and since I keep knitting on it, apparently I keep agreeing with myself. I am really enjoying knitting on this. Weird. 

But hey! Look! I'm making a tube! Isn't it nice?

We've been open almost two weeks now and it seems like it is time to celebrate with a little giveaway. Up for grabs is a 115 g skein in either the Warm and Fuzzy or G Biv colourway.

I like the simplicity of both these colourways; three colours, with a slowly changing striping pattern to keep things interesting.

(I was going to say Friday, but realised that will be Friday the 13th. I'm not particularly superstitious, but still. Not the ideal date for a celebratory game of chance.)

This weekend we checked out the Saanich Fair, our local Agricultural Exhibition.  As is my usual style, I came home with some blurry iPhone pictures of things that I saw in the first 15 minutes. Not pictured: two soulful alpacas, a 14 lb zucchini, some beautiful hand knits, and the biggest horse I have ever seen. 

Hello and welcome as I metaphorically flip the bright orange open/closed sign in the front window to OPEN for the first time! 

I generally try to restrain myself in the use of exclamation points but I have used two already  and that seems about right! That's three now! Because our shop has officially launched and that is exciting! (Five!) (Six!)

Finally, a quick shop note: We have some colourways in stock; others will by dyed to order. To avoid disappointment, we are giving shipping times of 4-6 weeks. Whenever possible, we will ship much sooner than that but either way you will get a confirmation email when your package enters the postal system.
